THE EARRELL SALE. The paddock at Morris Park was crowded with turfmen at 12:30 oclock Saturday afternoon, when auctioneer William Easton put Frank Farrella horses under the hammer. Just why Farrell decided to sell out, nobody seemed able to tell, but when the sale was over, the friend of "Big Bill" Devery still owned Blues, Colonel Padden and The Musketeer. The three-year-old colt DeReszke, by Lamplighter Serene, was the first of the Farrell horses to be led into the ring.. Frank Brown, who trains for Senator "Pat" McCarren, started tho ball with a This gradually raised until M. bid of ,500. was L. Of this amount 0,780 has been won this year. The first bid was ,50C. But in less tban a minute J. E. Madden had jumped tho figures to ,500 Then A. J. Joyner bid ,000 and the colt was knocked down to him. A half hour later Joyner sold Blues to Farrell for ,000 and the colt ran in the latters colors in the first race. In explanation Joyner said: 1 simply bid in Blues for ,000 on a speculation when I saw that there was a chance to tret him at lhat price. When Mr. Farrell offered me an advance of ,000 1 took it. Thats all." Colonel Padden, who was among those carded to , I i be sold, was not in the paddock, although his absence was not explained. It was stated that The Musketeer was not put up because he is owned by MrB. Farrell. Joyner was also a bidder, for the four-year-old, Bonnibert, by Albert Bonnie Ola, but the colt went to G. F. Johnson for ,500. Joyner got the two-year-old Minotaur, by Eon, for ,600, but Colonist, a two-year-old colt, by Sir Dixon La Colonia, was bought for ,200 by G. Tieraey, with whom Farrell had a long confab before the sale. W. Durker took The Guardsman for 00 and M. J. Daly secured Hesper for 00. The lot, seven head in all, realized 1,000, but as Farrell got Blues back the sale did not amount to much. J. E. Widener bought Judge Franklin Stones Daffadowndilly for ,800 and will put him over the jumps. "Father Bill" Daly ran the price up to ,700.
