Owners of horses designed for campaigning during the winter,arQ..retninded,jthat theslendicl.,. list of valuable stakes offered by the California Jockey Club will close for entries at midnight tomorrow. In the biBtory of winter racing in this country no such money values were ever before proffered the turfmen of the country as a reward for patronage, and such inducement should meet with a ready and liberal response in the way of abundant entries. The rich Burns Handicap remains, as heretofore, a guaranteed stake of the value of 0,000, precisely the figures of the Brooklyn and Suburban. The other stakes are all on the added money system and are as follows : Two-year-olds : The California Futurity closed, 6 1-2 furlongs ; ,750 added. The Bell Stakes, 5-8 mile ; ,750 added. The Gebhard Handicap, Futurity course; ,750 added. Two-year-olds and upward: The Thornton Stakes, 4 miles; ,500 added. The Waterhou6e Cup, 1 1-4 miles; ,500 added. The New Years Handicap, 1 1-8 miles; ,750 added. The Follansbee Handicap, 7-8 mile ; ,500 added. The Adam Andrew Stakes, 61-2 furlongs; ,500 added. The Lissak Handicap, 1 mile; ,500 added. The Palace Hotel Handicap, 11-8 miles; ,5C0 added. For three-year-olds: The California Derby, 1 1-4 miles; ,500 added. The California Oaks fillies, 11-8 miles; ,000 added. For three-year-olds and upward: The Christmas Handicap, 1 1-4 miles ; ,500 added. The Thanksgiving Handicap, 11-8 miles; ,000 added. The Opening Handicap, 1 mile; ,500 added. The Crocker Stakes, 7-8 mile; ,500 added. This is a remarkable array of stakes, the full conditions of which are set forth in the advertising department of this issue. The California Jockey Club lays particular stress upon the fact that its purses have been increased until none of less than 00 will be given during the course of its fast approaching meeting, and numerous purses of from S6C0 to ,000 are to be offered for overnight handicaps and special condition races.
