Cherries was off well in motion and, showing the most speed throughout, won without special urging. Linden Tree ran a good race, but was tiring at the end and driving to the limit to stall off Wissendine. She would have won with an even start with the first two, but met with a lot of early interference. Ecome ran fairly well and is rounding to. Throstle quit badly after showing early speed. Major Dixon was best and came away when his rider was ready. Mathews rode a waiting race on him. Optimo and Nellie Bawn were used up setting the pace, bat the former stayed best. Nellie Bawn about ran her best race. There was a lot of crowding soon after the start, several of the field getting tangled up in the webbing which broke from the barrier. Free Pass finished well. Jack Rattlin showed superior speed, raced St. Minor to defeat in the first half and had enough left to stall off Ethel Wheat and Wainamoinen at tho end. Ethel Wheat saved ground at the turn into the homestretch, finished strongly and was wearing the winner down at the end. Wainamoinen was under a drive all through the last eighth. St. Minor was used up going to the front in the first furlong and tired when the pinch came. Ulediwentto the front when Lindsey was ready and made a show of his field. FiriDg Line ran well and was easily the best of the others. The light weight suited him and he ran to his best form. Brief began slowly, but made up a lot of ground while rounding the far turn and was under a hard drive at the end to stall off John McGurk. The latter was poorly handled. He was in a pocket all down the backstretch and had to go to the outside when rounding the far turn to get up and would have been third in another stride. Mint Bed tired. Little Elkin ran to his best form. He was under a hard drive all through the last eighth and kept bearing over on Chickadee, but not enough to change the result. Hnzzh finished resolutely, hut could not quite get up. Chickadee faltered palpably in the closing strides. Beana was thoroughly beaten when a furlong out. She can do better.
