Potente ran a remarkably good race in a stable boys hands. Remorse went wide on the stretch turn, losing much ground, but was going fast at the end and can do better. H. Illyria gradually improved her position from an indifferent start and came through next to the rail and with clear sailing held on gamely and just lasted long enough. St. Daniel helped to force the pace and stuck to his work strongly. Boutonniere worked a rough journey and finished like a whirlwind on the ex-tremo outside and was probably best today. Sweet Alice displayed brilliant speed and stamina throughout and might have won but for excessive early use. Fire Eater had a rough journey and was buffeted about in the stretch. Captain Arnold closed a big gap and is improving Earl of Warwick made up ten lengths from a bad start. Sparkle Esher ran as if stale and tired badly in the closing drive. Rossignol showed sudden improvement, waited on the pacemaker to the stretch where she fought it out through a long stretch drive with surprising gameness. Extinguisher finished fast and under a weak ride was gradually wearing the winner down. Glen Water was best, but under a weak ride was floundering and swerving at the end. Oom Paul was carried wide on both turns and then crowded back next to the rails in the stretch; again went to the outside and was going fastest of all at the end.
