Carrier Pigeon, a clean jumper and a speedy colt, was under pressure through the last half mile and wore Silver Twist down in the last sixteenth. The latter got off poorly, was used up in getting to the front and the effort told on him when it came to a drive, but his race was a good one. Cryptogram began slowly, but made up a gap and finished strongly. J. A. Warner weakened in the final quarter. Beauregard and AriuB could not handle the weight. It was a poor race for Victor. Athelroeo broke running and Lyne made most of his advantage, hustling her along all the way. She displayed speed and stood a drive resolutely. Sweet Marjorie, closer up than usual all the way, was gaining at the end under a hard drive and would have won in a few more strides. Lady Knighthood closed up with a. rush in the last one hundred yards, but tired right at the end. Her race was a good one. Sontag was poorly handled. Mrs. Wiggs, a Blow beginner, finished gamely and is worth watching.- Mount Kisco received a poor ride. The last seven or eight at the start had little chance, being crowded back after the start.. Adelaide Prince was easily the best and the distance was to her liking. She was under a stout pull for the first milo, but went up fast on the backstretch and drew away at the home "turn. Potheen ran a fair race, closed up fast on the turn, but tired in the run to the finish. The route was too far for Flintlock. Rightaway and Blanche Herman were used up in making pace. Winner B. m, by Tremont Myopia trained by A. C. McCafferty. Went to post at 3:20. At post 4 minutes. Start fair. Won driving; second the same. Alpaca is very fit and won on her merits, McCafferty being of little help to her. She broke running, showed the most speed and fought out the finish stoutly. Merry Maker made a determined bid in the, final furlong, but tired slightly when he got up. Ivernia showed quick improvement and was slowly gaining at the end under a hard drive. Honolulu would have been a sharp contender with an even start and a good ride and closed a big gap Brisk needed the race, was under pressure throughout and should improve. Black Dick received a poor start. It was not The Referees race. He has shown much better. Scratched 36190 Lady Radnor, 102. Overweights Brisk, 3 pounds; Nuptial, 2; Mazie V 1. Alpaca, show, 6 to 1. Demurrer displayed much improvement and a fine burst of speed and managed to last the dibtance, but was tiring fast at the end. Douro was waited with too long, but came faBt at the end and just failed to get up. He would have won had Lyne made his move sooner. Belvino ran a good race for nearly a mile ; then he weakened under the whip. Contend was plainly short and is worth remembering. Callant, always outrun, was outclassed. Cameron has rounded to his good form, showed plenty of speed today and, aided by a vigorous ride, managed to last, but was all out; and doing his best at the end. Jim Clark, away running, forced the pace nearly all the way and hung on gamely at the- end, showing sharp improvement. Orontas began slowly, but finished with a rush and will win soon, but was tiring at the end under punishment. Satire, off poorly, closed a tremendous gap and would probably have won with an even start. Gold Cure was overweighted. It was a poor race for Hunter Raine. Carbuncle is not in form seemingly.
