Malaspina forced the pace to the stretch, where-she swerved into the rail under a, bumping administered by the winner, but fought it out gamely. Blackthorn was alio seriously crowded on the stretch turn after running in close quarters for the first half and was unlucky to lose and an easing up third. Ishtar is in rare form, led throughout and just lasted long enough to beat Artilla. The latter beat the barrier and received a skillful, lucky ride, although compelled to race wide around the field on the stretch turn and closed up very strongly in going which she dislikes. Galanthus seemed like a winner in the stretch and was a surprisingly good horse today, but badly mismanaged. Resin, crowded in the stretch, as. finishing very fast. Larry Wilt went a fast six furlongs and was short, but looks very good. Beana failed to stay. Blessed Damozel closed a gap. Lady Joce-lyn, interfered with at the half, flashed through next to the rail, finished fast under the whip and caught The Major napping. The latter, carried wide on the turn, appeared a sure winner when a furlong out and was unprepared for the winners rush at the end. Little Margaret forced the pace and tired at the end under a weak finish. Onyx II. tired in the last quarter, went very wide on the turn and was poorly ridden. Diderot beat the barrier and made most of his advantage on the first turn, then was held in reserve to the last furlong where he came again with a rush and caught Illowaho napping. The latter, easily best, waited under a pull for six furlongs, taking a commanding lead in the stretch and appeared a sure winner, but Ranch throw the race off carelessly. Marque, at a disadvantage because of the slow, early pace, was outsprinted in the last part, but was closing up fast under an inadequate ride. Lord Badge, away badly, nearly fell on the first turn, then rushing upon the winners heels forced the pace to the stratcb where Illowaho ran past him and quit badly at the end and is evidently not in good form.
