GOSSIP OF THE TURF. David Gideon has an imported colt at Holmdel a three-year-old that is arousing considerable interest inracing circles. The youngster, Stanhope, isbyFlorizel II., King Edwards great racehorse, out of the American-bred mare Kings Daughter, by Kingfisher. Kings Daughter was sent to England some years ago, when the property of J. E. McDonald, and sold to Richard Croker, the Tammany chieftain. Ho bred ber to Florizel II. Stanhope was such a promising yearling that ho was entered extensively in many English stakes, but developed into such a big colt that ho was never trained, and has yet to face the starter. Enoch Wishard tried Stanhope half a mile in 47 seconds when he had charge of the youngster and the rest of tho Croker string. He will be trained this season, if possible. Visitors to Long Beach appreciate the fine cuisine of the restaurant which is in connection. We will not give away hot sandwiches with each bet in order to meet competition, but an "extra hunch" will more than compensate those who patronize the best managed, best equipped turf exchange on earth.
