GOSSIP OF THE TURF. The report that Savable, John A. Drakes winner of the great Futurity, would be shipped to Hawthorne track and put through the same course of preparation that Wyeth, the American Derby winner, was put through last spring proveB to bo without foundation. M. N. Macfarlan, secretary of the Memphis Jockey Clnb, states that Enoch Wishard, trainer of the Drake string, will remain in the south until warm weather settles over the north. Then Savable, Wyeth, High Chancellor and many yearlings which celebrated their two-year-old birthday on the first of this month will be taken to Chicago. Macfarlan said that Wishard was not looking for the makers of the winter book to post Savable as the favorite in the batting on the American Derby. Wishard said that he expected that honor to fall to Dick Wellas, Pat Dunnes Early or some of the eastern colts that will be entered. Belle Meade, the famous thoroughbred nursery of Tennessee, forwarded thirty-two entries for the rich Futurity Stakes that closed last Monday. Among the nominations are many of the most noted stud matrons, including Maud Ward, dam of Hugh Penny; Pretence, dam of The Parader; Trade Wind, dam of Gotham; Great Annie, dam of Tammany Chief; Nellie Van, dam of Advance Guard, etc. Of the entries sent, seventeen mares aro in foal to The Commoner, five to Loyalist, five to Inspector B. and five to Huron. At the annual meeting of the stockholders of the Coney Island Jockey Club, held Monday, the following were re-elected as the board of governors for the year 1903 : J. H. Alexander, J. G. Bennett, J. Par-sons, F. A. Schermorhorn, J. P. Scott, T. P. Smith, F. K. Sturgis, W. H. Tailor, W. K. Vanderbilt, J. V. Wadsworth, G. P. Wetmore and W. C. Whitney. John B. Todd has bought of C. D.
