Mountain laid behind tho pacemakers and when they had raced themselves into exhaustion came away in the final sixteenth, winning with plenty to snare. Cologne II. was worn out in racing with Kid Hampton for the first five furlongs, but hung on well. Kid Hampton ran well to the stretch and should win soon. Jolo raced into a contending position while going down the backstretch, then assumed command at tho half and under a vigorous ride managed to stall off the determined rush of Fncino. The latter was a contender throughout and ran a good race. It was very close for first place and it appeared to many that Fucino had won. Lady Midas ran to her best form. Oricins showed a flash, but has bad legs and found the going too hard. The others were never serious contenders. Overweights Oricins, 3 pounds; Old Huss. 2; Margarst Hoffman, 4; C. P. Mabel Hurst began slowly and lay behind the leaders to the final eighth, where she came fast and had enough left to stall off Quincys ru h. The latter ran a good race, but Steelo waited too long. Pearl Mendel showed her usual speed and, as usual, quit when the pinch came. Georgiena was used up chasing Pearl Msndel Rotha swerved from tho outside to the inner rail below the final sixteenth, ruining whatever chances she may have had.
