WASHINGTON PARK STAKES. Mr. John W. Kelsey, assistant secretary of the Washington Park Club, is visiting those points in the south where thoroughbreds are congregated for the winter. While at Memphis he is reported to have said that from the list of entries already received by him it is apparent that the Washington Park aggregate for this year will greatly exceed that of last year, the American Derby list being set at 120 or more. This is a cheerful promise of great racing at the banner track of the west, but no more than is due as a reward, for the lavish expenditure of money proposed by the Washington Park Club. The rich stakes offered by this club close for entries Thursday, January 15, and that date is near by, so that laggard owners should now bestir themselves in the matter of making entries. The conditions of the stakes are fully set forth in the advertising department of this issue. Entries should be sent to Secretary James Howard, Sixty-first street and South Park avenue, Chicago, and entry blanks will be furnished on application by him or by Daily Racing Form.
