CHICAGO JOCKEY CLUB STAKES. In the list of stakes advertised in this issue of Daily Racing Foem the Chicago Jockey Club follows the example of the Harlem Jockey Club in proffering a 0,000 guaranteed handicap. These two handicaps, the Hawthorno and the Harlem National, are thus of tb j same valua that the Brooklyn and Suburban handicaps were last year and for a number of years previously and, as the weights are to bo announced early in the spring, both will probably be quoted in ante-post betting and at once become important and popular fixtures with western racegoing folks. Weights for tho Hawthorne are to appear March 2 and tho race will be run on the opening day of the spring meeting, May 23. It is safe to predict that this big stake will attract all of the good handicap horses of the west and be the attraction that will entice a greater attendance than has ever marked the history of the Hawthorne track. The other stakos proffered aro the Northern Handicap, ,000 added, 11-1 miles; tho Superior Handicap, ,500 added, 1 1-2 miles; tho Flight Stakes, ,500 added, 3-t milo, and the Prairio Stakos, ,5C0 added, 2 miles, all tho foregoing being for horses threo years old and upward. For three-year-olds tho club offers the Excelsior Handicap, ,000 added, 1 1-8 milos, and the Premier Stakes. ,5C0 added, 1 mile. Tho stakes for two-year-olds are tho Lassie, for fillies, ,503 addod, 5-S milo; Vernal, for colts and geldings, ,500 added, 5-8 milo; Juvanile, ,500 added, 3 1-2 furlongs; Competition, ,500 added, 5 1-2 furlongs, and the Monadnock Handicap. ,500 addod, ?-l itilo. Theso are all valuable stakes and Daily Racing I Foum solicits for them tho same generous patron-j ago that has so far been awarded all stakes closed I in 1903, and will furnish entry blanks to all applicants.
