Knobhampton is improving, forced the pace throughout and was best, but a weak finish lost him the race. Samar went a wide stretch -turn, losing much ground, but was closing up fast at the ind. Selocted tired right at the end. Amberita got away poorly, but raced out into a good position quickly and was skillfully ridden and lucky, but failed to stay. Bombardier, a grand looker, was hog fat. Proper went wide on all the turns and, although handicapped by the going, he wore Claude and Durazzo down after a long and terrific stretch drive, winning a lucky race in the last stride. Claude forced the pace throughout and appeared a certain winner in, the stretch, but lost through a weak finish and being crowded against the rail by the winner. Durazzo, crowded at the start, ran the first six furlongs under a choking pull but failed to stay right at the end after being interfered with and crowded out by Proper. Gold Bellloomed up dangerously at the end of six furlongs and then faded away and was probably short. A claim of foul was not allowed. ,,,. Proper, show, out. Claude, show, out. Hermencia, much improved and evidently favored by the sloppy going, drew clear on the far turn, stealing a long and winning lead which won for him. Autolights stirrup broke on the stretch turn and delayed making his final move, but he was wearing the winner down at the end and was evidently best. Axminster, fresh and good, but inadequately handled, ran a fast and game race and finished strongly. July Gip went a fast six furlongs. He raced into prominence from an indifferent start and was shut off by Quiz losing several lengths, then came on fast next to the inside rail and won going away. Golden Cottage covered much ground by making a wide turn and finished fast. Quiz tired in the stretch after forcing a fast pace and was evidently short. Bernota got away poorly.
