Brisradier, which hung up a mile record at Sheepshead Bay two years ago, and which drifted west last year, is having a variegatod career. A short time ago he was on the hospital list and in such a bad way that in order to relieve hits of his misery it was decided to shoot him. Just when all hops of saving him had been given up, however, he began to mend, and now he is in such good condition that it has been decided to ship him east and prepare him for a campaign on the New York tracks. Brigadier is by Rayon dOr St. Bridget, and was bred by Aucnst Belmont. As a two-year-old and again as a three-year-old he cave evidence of possessing the very highest class, but ia the spring of his four-year-old career he suffered from an affection of the lungs, which left its mark in the shape of impaired wind. He had hung up a record, but his days of usefulness in the Belmont stable were over, and he was sold to H. C. Schulz, who brought him west and won a small fortune with him.
