Orsius was best and made the running throughout displaying superior speed and has improved in staying. Priestlike, a good looking filly, was the only serious contender and should improve on todays race. Lady Gallantry outstayed Isabelita after a long stretch drive. The Mighty ran as if he outclassed the field, got away in his stride and led unextended throughout. Punctilio came away from the others when straightened out in the stretch and was closing up fast at the end. Rudolfo got away slowly and ran out on the turn or he might have been second, is a good looker and should do better. Emil is a slow beginner and may do better over a longer distance. Phil Archibald, favored by the stiff going, lucky and skillfully ridden, waited on the pacemaker to the stretch where he, flashed into the lead and won going away. Forte trailed the field for the first half and moved up with a rush in the last three furlongs. Rim Rock was badly interfered with in the stretch and ran a good race. Alms Giver ran under a pull for a half and then swerved all over the stretch, seriously interfering with Ulloa. The latter was badly interfered with in the last furlong but was tiring and beaten at the time. Overweights Forte, 1 pound. , , Phil Archibald, show, 2 to 5. Forte, show, 4 A to 5. Leader was skilfully ridden and reserved to the stretch where he made good with agame rush Epicure forced the pace throughout and stood a long stretch drive, and would have beaten the winner but for swerving and a weak ride at the end. Gold Van, much the best, fpll out of it on the first turn, and Waldos four-mile tactics proved disastrous. He closed up a tremendous gap in the last half. Diderot was done at six furlongs. Bernota bolted at the start but closed up a gap in the first half and ran a game improving race. Rose of May, away badly, closed up a gap, finished fast and is about due. Tyranus, skillfully reserved behind the pacemaker, was carried wide at the stretch turn but tired badly at the end. Bonnie Lissak finished fast. Champagne, away poorly, closed up much ground and was wearing the winner down at the end. Rinaldo U. followed the winners pace closely for the first half and tired in the last quarter. Prue went well and probably favors a longer distance. Light Ball showed improved form, and raced in the heavy going throughout. Intrepido was outclassed.
