Bardolph, - Gorman and Bauers unbeaten horse, had a narrow escape from a serious accident last week at Memphis. He. made a playful attempt to kick out the side of his stall and succeeded in getting one of his feet through a hole in the wall about three feet from the ground. He hung there a while and finally succeeded in getting out without injuring himself further than taking a little skin off his leg. Trainer Berlew has had Bardolphs leg bound up for a few days, but will work him soon; G. C. Bennett, who has been at New Orleans for the last two or three days, intimates that his efforts to secure the reinstatement of Coburn in San Francisco may prove successful. Coburn was set down ostensibly for a bad ride, but in reality for having benn dissipating about town at nights. That he will be seen in the saddle at Memphis will add not a little to the local popularity of that meeting, for Coburn is popular with the Memphis race-going public. The horses owned by the well-known California firm of Burns and Waterhouse will be raced this year in the name of the junior member, C. P. Waterhouse, who will bring a strong stable to the eastern tracks for the coming campaign.
