Handspinner was slow getting in motion, got caught in a jam at the start, and looked hopelessly out of it rounding the first turn, but closed a big gap and finished strongly and was going away at the end. Guess showed alot of speed and was at home in the going, but stopped as if short. Ringdove was cut off at the turn into the backstretch and finished in the deep going, but was wearing Guess down at the end. Safeguard got an easy ride. Sir Fitzhugh was off running and Mulholland kept him on the path the entire trip. He was doing his best at the end to stall off Thurles. The latter cut the corner at the turn into the homestretch. So did "Wunderlich. Henry of Trastamare showed no speed and was never dangerous. Scratched 37691 John Bull, 105. Overweights Katie Gibbons, 1 pound. Chorus Boy, show, 1 to 2. Denny Duffy cut across the inside rounding the first turn, where Hicks took him to the good going and kept him there the rest of the trip. He fought it out with Ruby Ray all of the last furlong. Hicks outrode Phillips when it came to a finish. Ruby Ray met with a lot of interference, was bumped into and knocked back at the first turn. She closed a big gap, but the effort told at the end. Lofter got caught in a jam at the start, made up a lot of ground and ran a good race. Aratoma showed early speed, but could not last the route. Hucena made up ground in the last half. Scratched 37744 Prince Webb, 105. Overweights Hucena, 1 pound. Denny Duffy, show, 1 to 2. Ruby Ray, show, 3 to 2. Lofter, show, 3 to 5.
