He wore the leaders down in the run down the backstretch and came away without great effort in the last quarter. Safeguard showed early speed, but tired. Anti Trust swerved over into the deep going in the stretch run. Crossthwaite pulled Benefit up at the start. "Venus Victrix displayed early speed, but tired badly. Josette and Miriam W. ran like a team for the first three furlongs, Josette then came wide at the turn into the stretch and lost ground, but responded gamely under punishment and got up in the last stride. Miriam W. appeared like the winner at the furlong post, but weakened under a hard drive. Musical Slipper finished fast and was wearing the leaders down at the end. Maltster displayed early speed, but was under a hard drive all of the last quarter and was tiring at the end. Amigari finished fast and would have been third in another stride. Denny Duffy tired when called on strongly and swerved over into the deep going in the last sixteenth. Kilogram was under a hard drive for the last half.
