Musical Slipper is very fit at present, worked her way through the field in the stretch and finished gamely under the whip. Midnight Chimes got away well in motion, forced the pace all the way and fought out the finish stoutly. Right and True had a rough trip and was none too well handled. Fluke would have been third with a good rider. Anna Daly ran a winning race from where she got off, closed a big gap and finished fast. Brisk was sore when going to the post. Turnpike and Ithan tired as if short. Zirl was eased at the end. Scratched 37930 Boston, 90; 36104 Cascadilla, 93. Winner B. c, by Puryear D. Hazel Mac trained by W. L. Oliver. Went to post at 3:30. At post 2 minutes. Start poor. Won easily; second the same. 1 Hazelwood appeared to better advantage in the fast going, outbroke his company and displayed a fine turn of speed. He will do better as he was high in flesh today. The Brown Monarch ran under pressure nearly all the way, but had no chance of catching the winner He is a big colt and racing should improve him. Circulator made up ground and finished going fast. Sourire had no mishaps. George R. Harrison ran poorly. Brightwood is probably not of much account except in mud. Glenacre refused to break and was practically left. Overweights Sourire, 1 pound. Orloff could not last the route at the pace. Cincinnatus will bear watching in poorer company. Showman was outclassed at the weights. Scratched 37931 Ornature, 101; 37913sCherubim, 96. San Andres ran under restraint in the first part of the race and easily went to the front in the stretch when Odom desired, but tried to run out in the final sixteenth. Lord Advocate was used up disposing of Star and Garter and was all out when San Andres challenged and just lasted long enough to secure second place. Mosketo finished fast and would have been second with a stronger rider up. Provost was under a drive through the last half and could not improve his position. Star and Garter, plainly short, quit badly after going -five furlongs. Black Dick got off poorly and was not persevered with. Overweights San Andres, 3 pounds; Arrah Gowan, 1. San Andres, show, out. Annie Grace received the benefit of a vigorous ride and although she ran well that won for her. Slidell displayed plenty of speed and broke flying, but could not quite last the route. Heathsville ran a good race for six furlongs, then, weakened under poor handling and is worth remembering in the same company. Lady Welbeck finishedfast and would have been third in another stride.
