Won easily; second driving. -Whiskey King- delayed the start by -wheeling -around kicking at everything within reach and unseated his rider in one of his lunges, but saved ground at every turn, came fast in the last sixteenth and outgamed Bensonhurst in the decisive drive. Bensonhurst had every advantage, broke running and opened up a two lengths lead in the first furlong, but tired in the stretch run. Golden Rule tired near the end as if short. The Lady was given an easy ride. Foxy Kane was outrun all the way. Automaton ran a good race from where he got off. Overweights Bensonhurst, 3 pounds; Foxy Kane, 2. Whiskey King, show, 6 to 5. Cloverton is a quick beginner, broke well in motion, showed the most speed all the way and was eased up in the last sixteenth. Flo Bob began slowly and went around his field at the far turn and outgamed Dr. Loder when it came to a drive. The latter quit when called on. Milkirk was as good as left and closed a big gap under a weak ride. This one is worth remembering. Ringwalt is a bad actor. Cloverton, show, out. Flo Bob, show, 1 to 2. Dr. Loder, show, 3 to 5. Ordnung was off with the leaders and took command before they had gone ten yards. Bull-man took the short route with him and hugged the rail all the way. He had to be shaken up in the last furlong to stall off Harry New. The latter ran to his best form, escaped all interference and had no mishaps. Witfull was crowded back on the first turn, then came to the outside at the far turn, finished fast and was wearing the leaders down at the end. Waswift was under restraint for the first six furlongs, but tired when strongly called on. McChesney was crowded against the fence and sent to his knees while rounding the first turn. He never seemed able to extend himself afterwards and the weight and track proved too much for him. Huzzah ran an extra good race for him. Barrack made up much ground. Flocarline tired.
