BADLY TREATED HORSES. Secretary Martin Nathanson has been delving in the list of names awarded the two-year-olds of this year and picked out a number that will be a hard burden for their unlucky recipients to carry. Each year brings out its quota of grotesque names conceived in bad taste and ignorance and 1903 is no exception. The Jockey Club would do well to establish a board of censors whose business it should be to reject such idiotic names as "Chautauqua of Jas. Isle," "Bill of the Play," "Thank Haven," etc. The shining examples of bad nomenclature instanced by Mr. Nathanson are these: Red Cross Nurse, ch. f, by Prince Rudolph Accident.
