Dr. Saylor was best, had to be ridden to wear Eloim down, but had plenty to spare at the end. Eloim forced a fast pace and tired but had enough left to stall off Turnpike in the final drive. The latter came fast in the stretch after having been outrun early. Orloff was weakly handled at the finish and would have been second with a good ride. Glennevis was -used up in early racing and should improve. Little Boy had no chance at the start, being practically left. Scratched 38022 Red Damsel, 111. Winner Ch. f, by St. Saviour Belle dOr trained by A. Conrad. Went to post at 3:25. At post 1 minute. Start poor. Won handily; second driving. Cloche dOr forced a fast pace and was holding her own at the end under a mild drive. Mollie Peyton ran a good race and although the route was a trifle too far for her she hung on gamely at the end. Alma Girl finished going fast and would have been second in a few more strdes. Hist was used up in an endeavor to catch Cloche dOr and tired in the stretch. It was a poor ride on Jerry and he was eased up at the end. Collegian was practically left. Cloche dOr, show, 2 to 1. Mollie Peyton, show, 2 to 1. Alma Girl, show, 6 to 5. Pearl Diver, show, 3 to 5. Winner Ch. c, by Fonso Recess trained by J. Hand. Went to post at 3:55. At post 2 minutes. Start good. Won driving; second easily. Tommy Foster is in rare form, raced fast every foot of the way and stood a gruelling drive in the stretch. He appeared to be beaten inside of the sixteenth post where Merry Maker headed him, but hung on and came again in the last couple of strides. Merry Maker was best at the weights and would have won with clear sailing, but had to come around the field on the stretch turn. The effort was too much and he tired in the last furlong when he got up. Redfern could not ride him hard in the last hundred yards as the colt was bearing in on Tommy Foster and the jockey had trouble in keeping him straight. Meistersinger ran well and would have been closer up with a good rider. Locket was carried along too fast in the first quarter and weakened under the hot pace. Mud is his forte. Animosity ran a good race for over five furlongs and was cut off on the stretch turn. Lady Radnor was pulled up in the stretch. Scratched 380403Imperious, 103; 38054 Slidell, 101; 380763Lady Welbeck, 91. Overweights Lady Radnor, 4 pounds. Tommy Foster, show, 1 to 2. Merry Maker, show, evens. Meistersinger, show, 1 to 2. Won handily; second driving. Listaway was best, readily went to the front when called on, but was tiring and doing his best at the end. Eclectic was only placed second because he was in better condition than Magic Flute. The latter is a likely filly and a good looker and will improve over this race and held on gamely in a drive in the last furlong. The Brown Monarch has been overrated. Scratched 38091 Echinate, 99. April Shower displayed a good turn of speed throughout, but was tiring at the end and Minder had to hustle him to keep him going. The race was a fine one for his first out. Tugai Bey, in next to the rail all the way, finished gamely under the whip, is rounding to and worth remembering. Himself was used up racing around his field on the turn and tired when hard pressed in the stretch. Wealth was probably not up to a hard race and should improve over this showing. At post 1 minute. Start good. Won easily; second driving. Duke of Kendal was the best and won easily. He was in many pockets and Redfern had to use the whip at the head of the stretch to get him clear. Haack rode a good race on Wheeler B. and he was much the best of the others. Charmels race for six furlongs was a good one. Russell Garth and J. A. Warner tired badly. Annie Grace did not run her race by any means. Scratched 36266 Knight Templar, 109.
