Fuller rode a good race on Farmer Jim, rated him along for the first six furlongs, caught the leaders while rounding the far turn, fought it out sharply with Alfred C. in the stretch run and outgamed the latter. Coburn had Alfred C. under a choking pull for the first half, after having beat the barrier and Lapidus bumped him a couple of times at the furlong post. Cogswell finished fast, caught Lapidus tiring and beat him out in the last stride. The latter showed the most early speed. War Cry was unlucky and ran poorly. Molinos was easily the best, but ran green and Bullman had all he could do to keep him straight in the stretch run. The colt swerved when he drew his whip at the furlong post, but drew out quickly. Myron Dale seemed like a winner at the furlong post, but tired in the last sixteenth. Flo Bob had no chance when the barrier went up, got away all tangled up and was cut off and knocked out of it.
