Old Mike finished fast and stood a long stretch drive, running next to the inside rail. Zonne ran a fair race and should do better soon. Courage tired fast after showing speed for five furlongs. Antonius began slowly, but moved up fast after the first half had been run and gradually wore doAvn Doeskin and Safeguard in the final sixteenth. Doeskin showed speed and stood a long stretch drive. Safeguard appeared to have a good chance when a furlong out, but tired fast when the pinch came. Radford ran a fair race and bears watching. Hedge ceased to be a serious contender after a half mile had been run. Illuminate showed early speed. Harry Beck could not extend himself in the going. Overweights Hedge, 1 pound; Safeguard, 1. Miss Callam appeared the winner when a furlong out, but faltered when put to a drive. J. W. ONeill finished fast after making up ground. Miss Cornet showed speed for three furlongs. Won easily; second the same. St. Minor easily wore down Haftie Walker in the last eighth and won well within himself. Scorpio was dull of early speed, but finished going fast. Burnie Bunton appeared high in llesh when going to the post and tired perceptibly when a furlong from home. The race should do her much good. Hattie Walker began slowly, but soon moved up into a contending position. She was taken next to the inside rail when turning for home, but faltered badly when the pinch came. Albula displayed the most speed and stood off Rankins determined bid in the last eighth gamely. The latter was under a keen drive all through the final furlong. He had just been taken off the cars and was probably a little stiff. Pyrrho tired fast when the pinch came. War Cry ran well for only six furlongs. Haviland was cut off by Albula at the first turn. Dr. Gurnsey ran well for six furlongs. Malay ran far below his best form and was never a serious contender. False Lead was bumped at the start and got oil poorly. . Scratched 37804 Moroni. 108.
