Beginning" slowly he closed a big gap, caught Miss Hume and Delia Ostrand tiring and had enough left to stall off a challenge from Sister Kate II. The latter came fast in the stretch and got second place in the last stride. Miss Hume was used up in chasing Delia Ostrand and tired. The latter quit badly. Captain Hugh Bradley made up ground. Helgesen kept her under restraint for the first three furlongs, moved up fast while rounding the far turn and came away easily in the stretch run. Skilful was used up racing with John A. Start good: Won handily; second driving The Don showed a fine order of speed today and after racing Tancred to defeat in the first three-quarters came away in the stretch run and was never in danger. Flocarline began slowly, but closed up fast in the final furlong, and outgamed Tancred in the final drive She suffered from bad handling and was pocketed on the first turn, forced to go to the outside on the far turn and then again run into a pocket on the stretch turn This was not her race. Won handily; second the same Farmer Jim was well ridden and rated along in the rear for the first half moved un to the leaders while rounding the far turn, fought it out with Ohnet and Major Tenny in the last quarter and outgamed the latter when it came to a drive. Major Tenny did his best and had no mishaps. Ohnet ran to his best form and showed much speed but tired in the last sixteenth. Professor Neville ran a good race.
