Excentral outbroke her field, showed the most speed throughout and was never in trouble. Claremont saved ground at the turn into the homestretch and finished fast under a hard drive. Bird Pond and Montholon fought it out sharply all through the last quarter. The latter was outrun for the first quarter, but came all around the leaders at the stretch turn, finished fast and would have won in another stride. Esherson ran in improved form, but tired. The latter closed a big gap and showed decided improvement. Bard of Avon was as good as left, came with a Tush at the end and would have been second in a few more strides. Ruby Ray had no mishaps, did her best and tired when the pinch came. Georgia Gardner was easily best of the others. Sir Fitzhugh showed early speed, but quit after going seven furlongs.
