Fake, always within easy call of the leader, was not called on until in the final eighth, where he moved up fast and easily passed into the lead. Optional faltered slightly when the pinch came, but ran a good race considering that she had just been taken off the cars. Haydon finished fast after making up ground in the stretch. Moroni came with a rush at the end. The Rabbit tired fast in the final eighth. Playlike ran far below his best form. Scratched 38273Old Mike, 109. Corrected weights Terralene, 107. Lawndale displayed keen speed and the result was never in doubt. Plea was taken somewhat wide just after turning for home and stood a long hard drive, wearing down Capitol in the closing strides. The latter tired fast in the final eighth. Judge Luthers went well for a short three furlongs. Outfield ran out at the head" of the stretch and swerved all over the track in the last eighth. Start good. Won in a canter; second easily. War Cry easily moved away from the field just after turning into the backstretch and spreadeagled it thereafter. Double O. ran well, but tired in the last eighth. Prince of Africa made an ineffectual attempt to close up on Double O. in the last quarter. He was undoubtedly short and the race should do him good. He was under a hard drive all through the final furlong and would have lost second place in a few more strides Dan McKenna began slowly, but made up ground gradually all through the last quarter under keen pressure.
