Cyuttica is a game filly. Carefully rated to the stretch, she came fast under the whip and outlasted Termagant, ONeil putting up a strong finish. Termagant, was favored by the going and with riders reversed would have won as Murray was of little help to her at the end. The Brown Monarch showed speed, but tired when the final drive came. Florizel was short, but is speedy and should improve. Listaway ran poorly and can do better. Cyuttica, show, 1 to 5. Termagant, show, evens. The Brown Monarch, show, 8 to 5. Cranesville had to be the best to win, for Rice had her in several pockets in going to the stretch. She had to come around her field and tired toward the end and should have won more easily. B. Doyle, off flying, displayed a good burst of speed, but swerved badly in the final furlong and went to the outside rail but came again at the end and just got up. Anna Daly ran a good race, closed up fast in the stretch and was second a few strides from the finish, but tired. Star and Garter lost ground at the start and was taken up too fast. Tom Cogan ran poorly. First Glance quit after displaying a flash of early speed. Scratched 355S52Petit Bleu, 100; 341G2 Kickshaw, 105. Overweights B. Doyle, 5 pounds. Cranesville, show, out. B. Went to post at 3:25. At post 3 minutes. Start fair. Won handily; second driving. The winner ran a good race, came fast in the stretch and was going away at the end under a hand ride. Julia M. displayed speed, stood a long hard drive and outgamed Contentious at the end. The latter was carried along too fast and tired, but hung on well under a strong finish. May Holladay made up a lot of ground. Silver Dream, crowded back at the start, came fast at the end. Fickle was short. Scratched 3S3092Termagant, 112; Albertola, 112; Tender Crest, 112. Oclawaha was rated to the stretch turn, where Gannon saved ground with him when the others swung wide and caught Musidora in the final furlong. Musidora would have won with capable handling, raced Locket into submission, but tired in the last sixteenth and Brannan could not help her in the final drive. Locket beat the gate and showed speed, but the Weight told on him and he tired. The others were always outrun. No show betting on first three. FIFTH RACE 5 1-2 Furlongs. added. 3-year-olds.
