The latter began slowly and closed up in the stretch, but tired under punishment. Early Eve ran well for over a half when she tired. Palmbearer ran a good race and was well handled. Gannon avoided the early pace and saved ground when turning into the stretch, where he was crowded, but came again toward the end. It was a poor ride on Nameoki, which displayed speed, hung on gamely all the way and would have won with stronger handling. Bruceville tired on the turn for home. Chockayotte did not run to expectations, was green and will probably do better. Atwood was practically left at the post. Charlie Fisher, show, 1 to 4. Palmbearer, show, 2 to 1. Nameoki, show, 2 to 1. Rostand showed speed, but was carried along too fast and tired. Meistersinger was overweighted. Colonsay got in a jam in the first furlong and lost ground. Taps ran well for nearly five furlongs.
