Won easily; second driving Compass, showing surprising improvement, was lucky at the start, assumed the lead on the backstretch and kept it without trouble to the finish. Tammany Chief had rough sailing in the first part of the race, but made up ground and finished going fast. Scortic got off poorly and under a bad ride ran much below her true form. Pay the Fiddler quit badlv and did not run his race. Varner ran well, but was a trifle short. Compass, show, 2 to 1. Tammany Chief, show, 2 to 1. Start fair. Won easily; second the same. Reducer had the best of racing luck, came with a rush through the stretch and won going away. Hie Away was made too much use of, but ran a good race and might have won under a judicious ride. Kingstelle also ran a good race, was much hampered early and finished gamely.
