Woodshade got off well in motion and readily went to the front when called on in the stretch turn, but was tiring at the end. Wizard ran a fair .race and had to be hard ridden in the last quarter to get up. Silent Water, plainly short, is a good looking filly and speedy and should do better. Grand Vitesse ran under pressure all the way. Miss Nancy, off poorly, closed a big gap and was going fast at the end. Excentral was crowded badly on the first turn and eased up afterward. Won easily; second driving. Locket showed the most speed. throughout and OBrien saved ground all the way, gaining a couple of lengths when turning into the stretch. Torchlight is a slow beginner, but finished fast and wore Blue and Orange down in the last stride. The latter ran a good race on his own courage, Miller being of little help to him. Maru was in many pockets. Miladi. Love ran poorly and so did De Reszke. Locket, show, 2 to 1. Torchlight, show, 1 to 2. Blue and Orange, show, 2 to 5. Miladi Love, show, 3 to 5. Winner — B. c, by Puryear D. — Hazel Mac trained by W. L. Oliver. Went to post at 3:30. At post 5 minutes. Start bad. Won easily; second the same. The start practically decided the race. Hazelwood and Interlude were off flying and had the race between them to the stretch, where Hazelwood drew out and showing much speed -won easing up. Valour, tangled up at the start, ran a game race and stood a long hard •drive, but could not get up. Interlude showed great speed, but tired. Fair Order was high in flesh. Graziallo had no chance with the start and was not persevered with. Pistol ran poorly. Overweights — Valour, 1 pound. Hazelwood, show, 1 to 2. Valour, show, 1 to 5. Interlude, show, 6 to 5. Winner — B. c, by Henry of Navarre — Invermay trained by A. L. Aste. Went to post at 4:00. At post 3 minutes. Start good. Won easily; second driving. It was only a romp for Plater and he was under restraint all through the stretch. The lime of the race was very fast and stamps the winner, as a high-class colt. Minotaur ran well, but was used up in chasing Plater and was tiring at the end and Hoar had to ride hard to beat Sweet Alice. The latter began slowly, but made up a lot of ground and finished going fast. Right and True found the route and company too much. It was a poor race for Kickshaw. Ringdove was outclassed. Shaw rated him well and the colt had the race safe throughout and something in hand at the end. Colonsay ran a good race and Creamer saved ground by hugging the rail all the way. The Huguenot appeared high in flesh and displayed his old speed and although short fought out the finish gamely. Zoroaster was outrun and could not get up and was under a drive all of the last quarter. The saddle slipped on Gaviota. Rosanco was pulled up at the end. Stroller was easily the best at the weights and readily went to the front when Martin desired, winning hands down. Mart Fullen displayed a lot of speed, but tired and was probably a trifle short. Black Hussar ran under a drive from the stretch turn, but could not get up. Spring Silk ran well and would have been third with better handling. Ravelments race for nearly Ave furlongs was a good one. Mennenfield is worth remembering in the same company. He was high in flesh. Lady Knighthood closed a big gap from a poor start. Snowdrift and Calcutta got off poorly. Scratched— 38495 Cruachan, 112. Overweights — Adele Harding, 3 pounds; Cloth of Gold, 1. Stroller, show, 2 to 5. Mart Mullen, show, 2 to 1.
