Time, 24, 49, 1:01. Winner — B. f, by Newcourt — Lizzie Montrose trained by H. Flippen. Went to post at 2:33. At post 2 minutes. Start good. Won handily; second the same. Rosecourt, fit and ready, showed the most speed throughout and landed through a good ride. She also had the best of racing luck. Stub got away well, ran a good race and had no mishaps. Honeybrook was probably the best horse in the race. He had a rough trip, made up ground and finished going fast. Sardian also ran a sparkling race from a bad send-off. Won easily; second the same. 1 Dawson was carried wide by First One in the stretch, but overcame the interference, came i on fast and won going away. First One ran well, but tired badly and swerved all over the stretch. Margie S. showed improvement, made up much ground and finished gamely. Varner was the best horse in the race. He stumbled and nearly fell on the backstretch and ■ seemed to be virtually out of the race when his rider got him to going again. Dawson, show, evens. First One, show, 3 to 1. Ben Adkins ran out at the head of the stretch, but came with a rush when straightened out. Aransas Pass was in a pocket in the last sixteenth, which beat her for second place. At post 4 minutes. Start good. Won driving; second easily. Sambo recovered his best form suddenly, was always a contender, finished fast and resolutely, and a strong finish helped him considerably. Eda Riley was cut off when entering the stretch, but came on with a great rush. Nearest showed the most speed to the stretch, but quit when under pressure. Sambo bumped Scortic badly while rounding the first turn and she was also cut off at the half mile post. Jena could not get through in the stretch and her rider took her all over the track. Bengal ran well. Monos can do much better. Jockey Howell was suspended pending investigation of Sambos last previous race. Scratched — 38497 Barkelmore, 97. Sambo, show, 3 to 2. Loca was badly pocketed in the stretch, but came fast when clear and would have won with a bit farther to go. Fickle Saint ran in improved form and finished fast.
