Golden Cottage waited on Miss West to the stretch and outstayed her at the end of a long hard drive. Miss West got off flying, showed speed throughout and although tiring hung on gamely. Flaneur was driving to the limit all through the last furlong to stall off The Stewardess. There was a jam just as the barrier went up. Handcuff and Khaki were both crowded against the rail and had to be pulled up to keep from going over the fence. Angelee got away well in motion and opened up a winning gap before the others got to going well, but was driving to the limit at the end to stall off Sweetie. Mclnerny was overconfident with Sweetie and rode a weak finish, but she was coming fast and would have won in another stride. She was easily the best. Orient ran well and was under a drive all of the last furlong. Katie Powers ran disappointingly. Sou-friere was ridden all over the track. Sinner Simon was rated along in behind the leaders for the first six furlongs, then came fast in the stretch run and outgamed Grand Marais in a driving finish. The latter har every advantage, was off running and showed much early speed, but tired when strongly called on. Lady Strathmore seemed anchored by her weight and ran a bad race. Emperor of India ran well, but was under a hard drive all of the last furlong to stall off Paris. The latter was as good as left at the post, ran on the outside all the way, closed a big gap and finished fast. He was easily the best of this field and would have won with an even break. Sidney Walker saved ground at the turn into the homestretch, but was tiring in the last few strides. Carl Kahler broke runnimr and showed a great burst of speed, but tired in the stretch run.
