St. Philliplna was lucky at the start and under a skillful ride indulged Cousin Carrie with the lead to the stretch, where she cantered past her and won easing up. Cousin Carrie got away running and made the most of her advantage and held on gamely in a long drive. San Lution closed a big gap and being badly ridden swerved at the end. Maresa quit badly in the last quarter. Sharp Bird is in poor form. Tyranus made up much ground from a bad start. . Overweights— San Lution, 1 pound; Bogus Bill, 1. St. Philliplna, show, evens. Juana received a flying start and that won for her. She is steadily improving and ran a fast and game race. Strife, crowded and pulled up at the start, closed a tremendous gap and finished like a whirlwind although very badly ridden and was much the best. Ravelena was favored at the start, but failed to stay and was swerving all over the track at the end. Rose Farr had scant chance with a bad jockey. Planet has trained off and is a quitter. Vassalo, fresh and good and much the best, waited for seven furlongs on the pacemaker, cantering into the lead when called on and came home alone. Tizona was lucky and prominent throughout and put up a game stretch struggle. Frank Woods, away poorly, closed a big gap and seemed secure of second place, but tired right at the end. Autolight was lucky and had clear sailing, being skillfully handled moved up fast on the far turn and responded gamely in the final stretch sprint and ran to nearly his best form. Warte Nicht, lucky and, awe y in front, was reserved in behind a fast non-stayer as pacemaker and rushed into the lead on the stretch turn, but succumbed to the winners brilliant rush. Grafter steadily improved his position and was going very fast at the end. Horton was excessively urged to get up in the middle half and failed to stay. Eonic was ridden with poor judgment. Divina, away badly and busily engaged in interfering with the favorite, ran a phenomenal race. Byron Rose was a good horse sadly mismanaged. Ishtar failed to stay. Peter J. quit badly. The latter is an improved horse and away in his stride made the running throughout and only tired in the last few strides. Ada N. received an erratic and bad looking ride, came with a belated rush at the end and was best. Mountebank was choked back throughout. Water Cure sulked when called upon for a final effort. St. Winifrlde got away badly and after being excessively urged led by an apparently winning margin when straightened for the wire, but tired. Hudson ran in suddenly improved form. Moxicana is stale.
