Jack Demund, practically left at the post, came with a tremendous rush at the finish and was probably best. Elastic got off badly and cut across his field Interfering with every horse in the race and throwing Brulare. He showed his usual speed, but tired at the end as though short. Pharoah came from behind in the stretch, and after a sharp drive with Vestry overhauled the tired pacemaker, Josie F., and was going away from her at the finish. Josie F. ran an excellent race and showed considerable improvement. Blanco, pinched off at the start, had much trouble in getting through his field, but finished gamely and might have made it interesting for the winner with clear sailing.
