Invincible finished fast through the last furlong and Gannons vigorous ride enabled him to outstay the poorly ridden Illyria in the last strides. The latter forced the pace throughout and cleared the last ridge with an apparently winning lead, but swerved into final defeat. Remorse was closing up fast at the end. Pipe trailed far in the rear until he struck the level, where lie was gaining apparently. General Prig went up to the leader when a furlong out and swerving under punishment fell out of it. Any Day fell in behind the leaders into a hopeless pocket on the level stretch. Miss Nancy, away poorly, came from a long way back in the last furlong and was going very fast at the end. Gold Ribbon was in front throughout, always held his field safe and is above the ordinary Ballycastle ran unkindly and swerved in and out of close quarters until right at the end when he came on true and fast. Red Light ran a fast and game race and only lost second place In the last stride. Fortunehunter must have been greatly handicapped with his riders ill advised and continued use of the whip. He was responding gamely, however, and should improve. Grand Vitesse looks better than she races. Sir Walt quit badly and is evidently a pronounced non-stayer. Syrlin was lucky, raced into the lead at the start and easily held his field safe for six furlongs when he suddenly commenced to tire and only just got home. He has pulled up lame in his work recently and is in a bad way in front. Ella Snyder showed sudden improvement, easily held a forward position from the start and when straightened for home she closed up with a rush and was wearing the winner down at the end. Knight of the Garter ran kindly all the way and was going the fastest of all in the last sixteenth. Cincinnatus failed to stay in the final run to the winning line. Scoffer ran like a sulkgr. Anak must have a skillful and vigorous rider as he is a horse of moods. Scratched— 38999 Pittacus, 97; 36930 Pastoral, 95. Syrlin, show, 1 to 5. Ella Snyder, show, 7 to 5. Grand Opera quickly moved up from a rearward position at the start and gamely forced the i pace and always had something in reserve, which enabled him to come away right at the i end. Colonsay loomed up a dangerous contender when a furlong out and finished out the i journey in game fashion. Flying Buttress came fast at the end and luckily saved third I place.
