Jack Rattlin is in good form, showed great speed and wore Bensonhurst down while rounding the far turn, but was hard ridden in the last sixteenth to stall off Allan-a-Dale. The latter had a rough trip, was bumped into and cut off soon after the start and again at the far turn, but came fast through the stretch. Bensonhurst ran his race and had no mishaps. The winner was much the best, had a rough trip and was crowded back in the first half and Lindsey had to go all around his field to get up, but the horse finished fast in the stretch run. John J. Regan ran well, but was used up in chasing Moyle and tired when it came to a hard drive. Kentucky Cardinal was bumped into while rounding the first turn and was I . i i i I - . . _ in close quarters until on the far turn, but saved ground at the turn into the homestretch and outgamed Luigart in the final drive. Won easily; second the same. Rainland ran unextended all the way, came wide at the turn into the homestretch and was under restraint all of the last sixteenth. Brancas began slowly and closed a big gap, but was tiring badly at the end and swerved across in front of Requisite and Heritage in the last sixteenth. Requisite was in close quarters at the end and was crowded to the inside fence. Heritage was also interfered with. He showed early speed, but tired and the randca should improve him. Crowhurst avoided the early pace with Woodlake, waited with him for the first mile, moved him up while rounding the far turn and with the colt finishing fast outrode Davis when it came to the final drive. Bad News showed much early speed, but was used too much in setting the pace and tired when called on for a final effort. Tancred moved up fast at the turn into the homestretch and appeared like the winner at the furlong post, but tired when the deciding drive came. The weight anchored Judge Himes. Maxey Blumenthal ran very green, reared back when the barrier went up and was practically left. Rampooza ran poorly. Tom Hall trailed along in the rear all the way. Woodlake, show, 7 to 5. Helgesen rode a good race on Sortie, escaped the early interference and saved ground at the turn into the homestretch, but had to stand a long hard drive to stall off a challenge from Frank Mc. The latter closed a big gap, but tired after catching the leaders. Lindsey had him on the inside for the entire trip. G. W. W. ran a winning race from where he got off, had an outside position at the post and was off tangled up. Tufts got caught in a jam at the start and was knocked out of the race. This one is worth remembering. Nellie Bawn and St. Bluff were used up in setting the pace. Overweights— G. W. W., 3 pounds; Welsh Girl, 3; St. Bluff, 3. Sortie, show, 7 to 10. Frank Mc, show, out. G.
