Skilful ran Never Fret into submission in the first half mile and then came away easily, winning as his rider pleased. High Chancellor finished well and was easily best of the others. Joe Martin showed much speed, but tired fast in the last sixteenth. Epicure was poorly ridden and appeared unable to extend himself freely in the going. Toah showed scant speed and was never a serious contender. Never Fret had enough when a furlong out. Sweetie saved ground when turning for home by running close to the inside rail. She closed up gradually on Proceeds in the last sixteenth and outstayed him to the wire. The latter responded gamely under a hard drive and finished with great gameness. Peter Paul tired palpably in the last sixteenth. He swung somewhat wide when turning for home losing some ground. Crest jumped cleanly throughout, showed much speed and easily stood off Duke of Yorks challenge in the final sixteenth. The .latter is a good jumper. He was under a hard drive all through the stretch and wore down King Galong in the closing strides. The latter stood a long stretch drive after fencing cleanly. Hand Vice fell after taking the last jump. Indian II. ran into the fence at the first jump unseating his rider. Overweights — Indian II., 3 pounds. Crest, show, 1 to 5. Duke of York, show, 1 to 2. Judge Himes moved up fast while running down the backstretch and passed easily into the lead, th*e result after that never being in doubt. Favonius stood a long stretch drive and ran a high-class race, considering the weight. Little Scout couldnt get through until turning for home, where he moved up fast and was passing horses fast in the closing strides. Gregor K. tired palpably in the last sixteenth. Huzzah ran well to the head of the stretch and then fell away beaten. Ahola had enough after going seven furlongs. Glen Water tired fast after showing prominently for six furlongs.
