Shrine was lucky at the start, showed the most speed throughout, liked the track and was never fully extended. Claude began slowly, but came fast in the stretch. Brush By did not show her usual speed and had no mishaps. Retire showed early speed, but was evidently short and this race should improve him. The first two fought it out from the head of the stretch. Bob Alone carried John Ruskin wide when coming Into the homestretch and won because he was best ridden. Had riders been reversed John Ruskin would have won. Dick Hasse quit badly, but fenced well for the first mile. Zolo bolted at the second jump. Mango, Grey Cloud and Memorist fell at the pig-pen. Won easily; second driving Bank Street was a contender throughout, came away as his rider pleased in the stretch run and had plenty in reserve at the end. Dubious began slowly as usual, but came fast at the end and fought it out with Far Rockaway, outgaming him in the final drive. Far Rockaway was probably short. He ran a good race, but tired somewhat at the end. Merriment closed a big gap and finished going fast. Gold Cure tired in the stretch run. Athelroy showe* but little speed. Spring was much the best and came away as her rider pleased in the stretch, but interfered with Sky Blue when turning into the homestretch and was disqualified. Scotch Plume came very fast at the finish and is worth remembering. J. I. Mc finished well and caught Sky Blue tiring at the end. Interlude ran well to the stretch. Start good. Won easily; second driving. Thessalon was well handled and free from all interference, was waited with until the stretch was reached and came away with ease when Castro called on him. Nesto showed much speed, but was tiring in the last furlong and had all he could do to stall off Golden Crest. The latter ran well throughout. Hawkins ran a good race and finished fast.
