Firbane moved up fast when turning for home and easily passed into the lead running next to the inside rail winning as his rider pleased. General Steward stood a long stretch drive and easily wore down Falkland in the final eighth. The latter tired badly when the pinch came after showing much early speed. Preakness ran well for four furlongs. Sol Smith had little chance from where he got off. Scratched— 39194 Pat Hammon, 110. Overweights — Falkland, 1$ pounds. Firbane, show, 1 to 2. Linguist revelled in the going and virtually ran away from the field, being eased up to almost a walk in the final eighth. Lemco ran well and was easily best of the others. Caxton outstayed Orfeo in the last eighth struggle. The latter had enough when a furlong out and tired badly. Pirate appeared unable to extend himself freely in the going. Linguist, show, out. Henry on the latter stole a big lead in the first quarter, by taking Moor next to the outside rail, where there was a hard path and then cutting across to the inside rail making the first turn. Moor tired fast when challenged by the winner. Barrack labored heavily in the going. The others were never serious contenders Compass, show, 3 to C. Moor, show, 2 to 1. Barrack, show, out. Delia Ostrand began slowly, but closed up ground fast In the last eighth. Optional fell away beaten after running well for half a mile. Alene Abbott retired after showing a little early speed.
