Coburg opened up a gap in the first quarter, had things all his own way thereafter and was eased up at the end. Gaviota was cut off at the start and closed a big gap, finishing very fast. Faranlass was taken very wide when turning for home, losing much ground. Night Owl ran a good race and will soon do. Termagant showed the most early speed, but had to be shaken up some in the stretch run. Outfield had to go all around his field to get up, finished very fast and was gaining on the winner. Curmudgeon also came fast at the end. Sailor Lad tired in the stretch run, but ran a good race as far as he went. Sky Blue did not run up to her last performance. Scratched— 38591 All Good, 101. Merriment had to be much the best to win. She was cut off twice on the far turn and a jam in the homestretch while trying to get through next to the inner rail, but came away with ease when clear. Easy Street had no mishaps. He was taken back on the backstretch and seemed to have all the best of it on the turn for home, but tired when the pinch came. Gallagher waited with him until on the upper turn of the field going the second time around, then went to the front and won without trouble. Daryl fought it out with King Top all through the stretch and got second place in the last stride. King Top went well throughout. Dick Hasse fell at the pig-pen in the first time around. Verna K. bolted at the second jump. Concertina fell and lost her rider at the Club House bank. Bob Alone, show, out. Daryl, show, 3 to 5. La Montagne and Gold Cockade were favored by a bad start and had it between them. La Montagne ran a good race and drew away with ease in the stretch run. Gold Cockade had no trouble in securing second place. Lady Berkeley, off badly, closed a big gap and finished going fast. Frank Love ran his race. Bessemer, Elcho, Miscreant and Merry Dew had no chance when the barrier went up. Scratched— 39191 Maple Sugar, 119; 39282 Plum Tart, 117. La Montagne, show, 7 to 5. Gold Cockade, show, 3 to 5.
