Kine PeDDer took the lead at the start and retained it easily for more than five furlongs, when he unexpectedly tired swerving, into the worst going at the end. W. R. Condon shows steady improvement and was favored by the going, secured a lucky start and held third position safely throughout. Winner — B. c, by Fitz James — Queens Taste trained by H. E. Rowell. Went to post at 4:00. At post 2 minutes. Start straggling. Won driving; second easily. Bon Mot won as if he outclassed his field. Nearly left at the post, he gradually improved his position and, closing up fast through the stretch, caught the leaders tiring and won going away. Arden, suddenly improved, but always at his best in mud, was always well up and when straightened for home seemed to have his field beaten and ran a fast and game race. Coruscate went well throughout, always had clear sailing and moved up so fast on the stretch turn that she appeared like having the race won, but she tired and was crowded out of it at the end. Irish Jewel was on even terms when turning into the stretch, but failed to stay. Meistersinger ran well as far as he went and was probably overweighted. Oclawaha and Graden are both at home in the mud, but are non-stayers. Scratched— 39543 Royal Pirate, 96. Overweights— Oclawaha, 4 pounds. Bon Mot, show, 1 to 2. Arden, show, 7 to 5. Harangue won all the way, coming away at the end in a canter, far outclassed the field and is a coming good one. Miss Nancy was evidently suited by the track conditions and was the only serious contender. Ishlana was in close quarters next to the rail and closed up fast with clear sailing in the last quarter. Reveille closed up a lot of ground after getting away poorly. Andrew Mack commenced to fall out of it early and ran a very bad race. Pompano failed to stay and was handicapped by the going. Outrun early and never seriously considered, he suddenly loomed up in the stretch and, coming on fast, caught the favorite unprepared and won going away fast. Sentinel made the running and, after stalling off several challenges, tired badly at the end. Tristesse ran a fast and particularly game race and, better ridden, might have won. Royal Pirate went up to the favorite on the stretch turn and momentarily looked like a winner, but failed to stay. Extravaganza ran in spots and will improve. Mayor Graham was going well at the end.
