At post 3 minutes. Start good for all but Hopedale. Won easily: second the same. Sir Gallant caught Mrs. Frank Foster tiring in the stretch and could have won farther off if necessary. Mrs. Frank Foster showed great speed, but was made tod much use of in the first half and could not keep up the pace. These were the only real contenders. Bummer II. was anchored by the weight. Pluck came very fast at the finish, raced Edgefield into subjection and drew away without trouble. Sarilla began slowly, but made up ground and came very fast at the finish. Edgefield tired and fell back in the stretch run. The Bronze Demon was scant of speed in the first part of the race, but closed a big gap when it was too late. Horsa and Lome showed early speed. Jim Ferrin ran a good race, but tired in the last sixteenth. Rowland M. tired at the end. Lillianette was off badly and closed a big gap. Snow Cap ran disappointingly and can do much better. Sardine ran a good race and was well ridden, but had to be driven to the limit to stall off Silk Cords rush at the end. The latter ran a magnificent race, was left at the post and had to make up a tremendous lot of ground. He came around his field and caught the leaders in the stretch run and would have been first in another stride. Balm of Gilead finished well and got third place from tiring horses. Kilmorie, after a hard, stern chase, caught Branch tiring and fought it out with him to the,, last eighth, where he began to come away, and won as his rider pleased. Radford came fast in the stretch run and outgamed the exhausted Branch in the final drive. Branch was used too much in the early stages and weakened under pressure. Advocator quit in the last sixteenth. The winner, entered for 00, was run up to ,300 by D. Lamas-iiey and bid In by his owner. The latter claimed Radford, entered for 00.
