Tom Mankins showed the most speed throughout, was taken next to the rail and was lucky, as Folies Bergeres ran put when breaking. Witchcraft was off badly, but made up much ground and would have won in another -sixteenth. She is a grand filly and was badly handled. Getchel went to the mark. Handzor ran well and will win presently. Folies Bergeres displayed a high order of speed and would probably have won had she not run out. Scratched— Bell the Cat, 113; Sadie Burch, 110. Frank Bell got off in front well in his stride, had clear sailing all the way, showed much speed and was well ridden. Elastic got through too late. He was in a pocket at the head of the stretch and came fast when clear. Croix dOr ran an excellen race. Miss Mae Day was pulled up at the start, then ran around the field. Louis Wagner ran a dull race. J. Sidney Walker displayed marked improvement and will bear close watching. Erema found the pace too warm and quit. Overweights— Fickle Saint, 3 pounds. Taby Tosa ran an excellent race and was best of those that ran, but needed a vigorous ride to win. Booker worked on her from the start and she was drawing away from her field at the end. Orris found the track to her fancy and ran to her true form. Kansas Lily, after being cut off, came again, but Wilson let her swing wide when entering the stretch and she swerved badly when he drew his whip afterwards. Start good. Won driving; second easily. Vestry, perfectly ridden, ran in behind the pacemaker to the last sixteenth, then made her move and outgamed him at the end. Bridge broke running, set the pace fast and tired at the end as though a trifle short. Kafllr got off all tangled tip, but finished fast. Bengal tired in the stretch. Grantor was given an easy ride. Happy Chappy did not run his race. Scratched— 37320 Latuka, 96. Overweights — Aules, 2 pounds; Dr. Burns. 2. Vestry, show, 4 to 5. Bridge, show, 2 to 5. Kaffir, show, 2 to 1.
