Went to post at 2:30. At post 3 minutes. Start fair. Won easily; second the same. Orsina showed much speed throughout and had plenty in reserve to stall off Sarah Maxims determined challenge in the last sixteenth. The latter began slowly, but made up ground rapidly in the last quarter and finished going fast. She would probably have won with any kind of racing luck. Alfio showed speed, but tired when the pinch came. Olonetz was beaten when a sixteenth from home. Our Bessie met with early interference and had no chance after the first quarter had been run. Toah began slowly, but closed up ground rapidly in the last quarter and had Sylvia Talbot beaten in the last hundred yards. The latter showed her usual speed, but tired fast in the final sixteenth. Burnie Bunton came fast in the closing strides and would have been second in another stride or two. Federal made up much ground in the last quarter. Nellie Waddell ran well for five furlongs. He displayed great speed throughout and easily withstood Six Shooters and Major Tennys challenges in the final sixteenth. Six Shooter closed up ground fast in the final eighth, but was pinned in against the inside rail in the last hundred yards. Major Tenny stood a long stretch drive and finished with great gameness. , John McGurk faltered in the final eighth. Golden Link was not called on until over the ninth jump, where he easily passed into the lead and was never in trouble thereafter. Crest was easily best of the others, but seemingly could not concede the weight to the winner. Ceylon tired after taking the seventh jump. The others were never serious contenders. Sanctum got into his full stride slowly, but finished going fast next to the inside rail. Commodore stood a long stretch drive and finished with great gameness. Touchstone showed much early speed, but tired fast in the last sixteenth struggle. Pat Hammoh ran a dull race and can do better. The others were never serious contenders. Won easily; second driving Alfred C. ran his usual honest race, showed much speed and, after running Annie Thompson into submission, had enough left to withstand Omdurman and Cogswell in the final hundred yards. Omdurman finished going fast and outstayed Cogswell. The latter faltered just a shade in the closing strides. Major Dixon stood a long stretch drive well and made up some ground in the last quarter. Annie Thompson was well beaten when a sixteenth out. Red Tip showed some early speed. Bonnie Lissak fell just after the start and ran away two miles after throwing her jockey.
