Six Shooter ran to his best form and was easily the best. He was badly pocketed at the first turn and inclined to loaf a little down the backstretch. Knight shook him up some in the final eighth, where he came away without much trouble. Sam Fullen finished resolutely, and was much the best of the others. Toah outstayed Jack Demund in a spirited last sixteenth struggle. The latter showed much speed, but tired when the pinch came. Waina-moinen was well beaten just after turning for home. Modicum was out of place. Overweights — Modicum, 2 pounds; Jack Demund, 1. Six Shooter, show, out. Sam Fullen, show, 4 to 5. Toah, show, 1 to 3. Peter Paul moved up fast on Miss Crawford just before turning for home and had her beaten all through the last sixteenth. The latter showed much speed, but tired fast when •challenged by the winner. Anne Davis ran a good race throughout. Mast finished going fast. Gold Piece faltered in the last eighth. Sweetie showed speed, but fell away beaten when a furlong out. The others were never serious contenders. Overweights — Lanark, 1 pound. Peter Paul, show, 2 to 5. Miss Crawford, show, evens. Anne Davis, show, evens. At post 3 minutes. Start good. Won in a canter; second handily. McChesney was in rare form. Dominick rated him along cleverly for the first seven furlongs and then gave him his head. He moved up fast on Allan-a-Dale and Waswift turning for home and had them beaten when a furlong out, winning thereafter as his rider pleased. Allan-a-Dale set a hot pace throughout and responded gamely under the whip in the last sixteenth. Little Scout made up ground fast in the last quarter and wore down Waswift in the closing strides. The latter measured stride for stride with Allan-a-Dale for one mile and then tired perceptibly. Lucien Appleby was never a serious contender. Caxton made, up. ground fast in the last quarter and finished fast. Bard of Avon ■came with a rush in the closing strides. He showed improvement and is about ready to win.
