Winner— Br. g, by Domino— Mere Hill trained by C. Davis. Went to post at 2:34. At post 4 minutes. • Start bad. Won in a canter; second driving. Unmasked, very fit and good, got away running and making the most of his advantage opened a big winning gap in the first quarter after which the race was never in doubt and he won easing up, but was evidently the best even if unduly favored. Olympian broke flat-footed on the inside and was in close quarters and jumping on horses all around the turn, where he seemed to be completely out of it, but working through next to the rail he finished very fast. Slave put up a thoroughly fast and game race and will improve, as it was plainly evident and admitted by his trainer that he ran short. Invincible ran in his very best form and at the weights his performance was particularly good. Our Nugget, outclassed, ran a winning race when among her kind. Illyria. is out, of place in sprints at the present. Duelist was backing away from the barrier—when it went up, but was -quicklj leading all but one of the field, tiring badly after an extreme display of speed for a half mile. Winner — B. c, by Indio — Flora Hurst trained by T. Welch. . Went to post at 3:00. At post 2 minutes. Start fair. Won driving; second the same. Sandhurst held a good position next to the rail, trailing right in behind the leader to the stretch, where he went to the front and was winning comfortably when challenged strongly at the end, but responding to the whip, he came away again and was best. The Lady Rohesia was particularly unlucky, pocketed and bumped about for over half the distance, and it was with a surprising burst of speed that she finished out the last furjong. Origins debut was promising. After getting away badly and closing a big early gap, she outfin-ished those behind her without special effort. Steelmaker fails to stay and should give a better account of himself in the mud. Sailor Knot, handicapped by a weak and inefficient rider, came out of a mixup on the turn and finished with a lot of speed. Tommy Rots race must have been far better than the figures indicate. Brooklyn, a sluggish colt, got away poorly, running on the extreme outside throughout and having but little chance. •Overweights — Kingsland, 1 pound. Sandhurst, show, 7 to 5. Winner — Ch. f, by Maxio — Mayada trained by A, J. Joyner. Went to post-at 3:20. At post 2 minutes. Start straggling. Won easily; second driving. Ada Nay, skillfully handled, was patiently reserved for nearly six furlongs and, moving up on the stretch turn after being shaken up as they squared away for home, she came away very easily and was evidently much the best. Adios is a fine looker and developed surprising speed and stamina and, after showing the way to the stretch, instead of coming back to her field, she kept on going and the result was momentarily in doubt. This race should improve her. Ithan, on the inside, was always a prominent contender and also held on with surprising pertinacity. Dekaber trailed her field, the pace being a little too fast for her, but at the end she finished fastest of all except the winner. Stamping Ground, in spite of the stiff clip set by the leaders, trailed right in behind them under a choking pull, apparently able to take the lead in a stride or two when called on, but she failed unaccountably in the stretch and finished bearing out. Moon Daisy was always outrun and her forte I is probably soft going. Scratched— 39936 Pastoral, 99. Overweights— Stamping Ground, 3 pounds. Ada Nay, show, out. Adios, show, 7 to 5. Injunction, stripped in first-class shape after his recent letup, enjoyed clear sailing and a. good position close to the leading bunch and, moving up on the stretch turn, got on even terms in the stretch and, after a long and terrific drive, just got home by a head. Eugenia Burch must be classed as one of the best fillies of recent years on todays performance, but her looks belie her. She passed the lightly-weighted Allan on the backstretch and forcing the pace, sustained her speed with remarkable and unexpected gameness. Merry Acrobats fine preliminary was followed by the best effort of his career on a fast track which is supposed to be unfavorable. He followed the pacemaker closely throughout and held on unexpectedly well at the end. Mackey Dwyer got away badly and worked a rough journey, steadily improving his position, closing up with a rush in the last furlong and was unlucky to lose third money. Golden Maxim, for some unaccountable reason, cut but a sorry figure in the early running, but made up ground rapidly in the stretch. This race was probably in the nature of a preparation for the Realization. Elliott went in improved form. Allan went a rattling six furlongs. River Pirate ran a bad race. Dauphin is not ready and will be heard from as he is highly thought of by his owner. Scratched — 10039 Colonsay, 95. Overweights — Allan, 3 pounds. ~ il"3"??10,11 sh°w 4„ to 5. Winner— Br. c, by Watercress— Zealandia trained by A. J. Joyner. Went to post at 4:15. At post 2 minutes. Start good. Won handily; second easily. Water Boy, superbly ridden and with plenty of pent up speed in reserve, was in no hurry-in the first half, being content to trail Blues and the hard pulling Irish Lad, moving up simultaneously with the last named at the half where they passed Blues as if he was anchored and racing together on even terms until a furlong out, where the older horse gradually forged into the lead and finished going away under a terrific drive. Irish Lad put up a brilliant performance at the weights and but lor being pinned in tightly next to-the rail and run dangerously close by the winner, preventing Burns from using his whip the result might possibly have been reversed. Goldsmith fell away in the last furlong after looming up a., dangerous contender on the stretch turn, and his failure to come on may be-due to his having made his move on the far turn where he was compelled to make up a lot of ground right in the teeth of a gale of wind, the race being run during a terrific wind storm. Blues led for about six furlongs on sufferance. Major Daingerfield is plainly not himself and was lost when the real racing began. Bonnibert is a hopeless in and outer and never had a look in. Glen Water was hopelessly outclassed. Scratched— 400132Herbert, 118; 39987 His Eminence, 105; 39793 City Bank, 102; 39963Andy-Williams, 100; 40013 Hunter Raine, 97. Water Boy, show, 7 to 10. Damon, suddenly improved in stamina, got away running and led throughout under a tremendously vigorous ride. Courtenay closed a big gap and ran a cracking good race. Bellario was given a suspiciously bad looking ride, failed to take advantage of the best of the send-off and was choked and hauled about in an endeavor to place him in the first six furlongs and must have been much the best. Rostand had no mishaps and ran a game-race under a poor ride. Flara has improved greatly and at the weight ran a surprisingly good race. Ringdove was a keen conteder for seven furlongs. In fact, his victory was entirely due to the skill with-which his speed was reserved for the final stretch run. He waited in behind the pacemakers and moved up as they straightened for home and only just got up in time. Dr. Saylor beat himself when he forced the pace, but he. held on gamely and shows improved form on a grass track. Articulate came out minus blinkers. He was given a bad ride, alternately driving and easing up and, messed about, he finally finished gaining fast and was much the best. Locket fell away when the others made their effort.
