LOCAL TURF GOSSIP. Jockey Crowhurst, who rode Monarka, the winner of the fourth race yesterday, was so weak after dismounting that he had to be helped back to the jockeys room, but recovered sufficiently to ride Geranium in the next race. After dismounting from the latter he begged permission from the judges to be released from riding Rolling Boer, stating that he did not think he could do the horse justice. The permission was granted and Wonderly was substituted. Jockey Dominick, who rode Beau Ormonde yesterday, stated after the race that jockey Sheehan purposely cut across him on the first turn, nearly throwing Beau Ormonde down. Continued from first page. has been interfering with the horses I have been on, and I cant understand why • he singles me out," was his concluding remark. Racing at Washington Park today will begin at 1:30 p.m. Jockey Robbins was suspended by the starter for two days for misbehavior at the post in the first race. Handsome Florry, which started in the fifth race, stumbled and fell shortly after the finish. Jockey Houbre, who rode her, had his side hurt by the mishap. L. Newgass, junior member of M. H. Tichenor and Co.s stable, announced yesterday, after the disqualification of Flo Bob. that the entire stable would be sold at auction during the present meeting. He intimated strongly that the reason for the sale was his disapproval . of the disqualification. Jockey Henrys reason for leaving the employ of Durnel and Herz was on account of a misunderstanding in money matters. Henry claims that when he signed to ride for the firm it was with the understanding that he would receive §5,000 as a retainer for seven months.. This was put in writing. He further states that he had a verbal agreement whereby he was to be paid the usual retainer for winning and losing mounts. "When he asked for a settlement the other day he was paid pro rata of the ,000 his contract called for, and no fees for winning and. losing mounts. He submitted his grievance to Judge Morse, with a request that he annul the contract. The judge, after listening to both sides and finding that both wanted to be released from the contract, had no trouble to adjust the matter. Henry, however, was not paid for his mounts. Trainer E. "Wishard will leave this morn-, ing for New York in charge of Savable. The latter is now looked upon as a certain starter in the rich Lawrence Realization. The Picket, which met with an injury in the American Derby, forcing a letup in his training, on recovery from his ailment, had several boils break out on the injured leg, causing it to swell nearly to double its normal size. The boils broke yesterday and the swelling instantly decreased and the horse is now apparently as sound as ever.
