Travers began slowly and had to weave his way through the big field. He closed up ground fast turning for home when he got clear sailing and finished resolutely. Wartc Nicht came with a rush at the end after making up much ground in the last half mile. First Chip was done for entering the last quarter. Poor Boy was right there for five furlongs, after which he retired. Zibia showed some early speed. Rag Tag had no chance from the start. Marlin showed much speed. A new track and American record. Santon moved up fast on Glendale down the backstretch and had disposed of him turning for home, but when a furlong out was challenged by Bondage, the two fighting it out hard to the wire. Robbins early effortt on Bondage was very weak, allowing him to fall far out of the race. He moved up fast turning into the final quarter and stood a long stretch drive with great gameness. Galba had little trouble in outstaying Glendale in the last quarter. The latter showed much speed and should do better in a .six-furlong dash.
