Raglan broke next to the rail and was repeatedly crossed and interfered with, finally wind-, ing up on the extreme outside of the field, where she finished coming like the wind at the end. Armenia closed a great gap from a bad start and finished out the last quarter fast and gamely. M. Theo was a prominent contender throughout and held on in improved fashion. Divination, not quite keyed up, was sent along right from the start and when the field straightened for home showed momentarily in the lead, tiring and swerving over to the rail at the end. White Plume moved into prominence on the turn, where she was badly interfered with, the field crowding over to her, notwithstanding which she finished gamely. Corrected weights— White Plume, 119. Winner— B. c, by St. George— Marie Jansen trained by W. Lakeland. Went to post at 3:05. At post 4 minutes. Start straggling. Won easily; second driving. Black Hussar worked an early rough route, shooting up on the inside at the half with a burst of speed that carried him quickly into a winning lead, which he retained without much. effort to the finish. Irascible evidently got away wrong foot foremost, as he was unable to get up into a contedning position, although Odom went to work on him at once He gradually improved his position when beginning the far turn and at the end he was running faster than everything except the winner. Prince Ching developed sudden and surprising speed, which he sustained unexpectedly well. Tam OShanter looks like a coming good one and closed a tremendous gap from a bad start, moving through his field like a flash on the extreme outside at a time when the pace was strongest. Spring Silk rated at the same steady pace throughout and at a furlong farther would have won today Silver Heels failed to stay after going a fast seven furlongs. Medal is improving and made up ground from the start. Sehlac is a grand looker and is reported to have worked fast trials Scratched— 400122Sentinel, 111; 36104 Nuit Blanche, 109; 39961 Pass Book, 111 Black Hussar, show, evens. Irascible, show, 1 to 4. Won easily; second the same Nameoki broke last, gradually worked his way through and directly after the field was straightened for home he flashed into the lead, coming away fast from Sacredus strone challenge at the end. The latter raced to the stretch in close attendance and simultaneously made his stretch move with the winner, but was blocked at the critical moment closing up very fast when too late. He shows remarkable improvement with each race. Walterin in her stride at the start and showing marked predeliction for the grass course was able to force the pace for five furlongs and put up a stiff argument at the end without much help from her jockey. Mohave is a rater and held on at a steady clip throughout Rusk ran into a brief lead when beginning the last furlong, but fell away suddenly. At post 1 minute. Start good. Won driving; second easily. Surmise ran his race today and in the hands of a capable and honest jockey was a different and vastly improved horse. He was with difficulty placed in behind Thorneycroft for the first half and passing him while going up the backstretch, after a sharp brush, led to the stretch where he put up a long stiff fight and got home first. Thorneycroft, after resigning his lead, followed the winner closely around the far turn and moved up with a rush, getting on even terms -in the stretch and was probably unlucky to lose. Colonsay ran into third position at the half and stood the favorite off rather easily in the stretch. Andy Williams trailed the slow early pace and expended all his energy making up ground on the backstretch, and when the real racing began he was left far behind. The Rival ran a very Dad race. Bob Hilliard was outsprinted in the last three furlongs. Scratched— 18887Holstein, 118; 40084 Moon Daisy, 111. Surmise, show, 2 to 5. Thorneycroft, show, 4 to 5. Colonsay, show, 6 to 5. Young Henry came through on the inside when a furlong from the finish and taking the lead while driving hard he won going away. Minotaur got away poorly and covered much unnecessary ground on the outside of the field while going around the turn and closed up a lot of ground under the whip in the last quarter. Nevermore singled himself out of the ruck in the last furlong with a rush. Petra H. was a prominent contender throughout and in spite of serious interference when beginning the last furlong finished close up. Salva-tella led for nearly six furlongs at a fast clip and ran a cracking good race. Pittacus came from a long way back in the last furlong. Kalif was luckv and made his own pace, a slow one, and coming away suddenly on the stretch turn stole a long and winning lead and won with considerable in reserve and is a good horse now. Lord Badge was repeatedly foiled by Daly in his efforts to get through on the backstretch and moved into contention when too late. The result would probably not have been altered In any event. Daly looked big and unfit. He particularly likes the grass course and went a good six furlongs. This race should fit him. Typhonic was well up for three furlongs. Scratched— 40015 Carroll D., 111. Overweights— Daly, 2 pounds. No show betting on first three.
