Griffiths showed much the most speed throughout and came away cantering in the stretch. Penela, off poorly, had to work her way through the field and with clear sailing she would probably have given Griffiths trouble. Bellcourt finished fast. Pearl Finder tired as if short. Start good: Won driving; second easily Blue Darter and St. Juvenal fought it out all through the stretch and the former clearly outgamed the latter. St. Juvenal showed the most early speed, but tired in the closing strides. Lyrist caught George James tiring in the stretch run and captured third place in the last stride. Wood on Tancred, was asleep at the post and the colt got off badly, but made up ground and caught Binehelio tiring in the stretch. The latter can do better.
